The book publishing journey
Every publishing project is different, but scholarly books generally progress through several major stages from proposal to publication.
Develop your idea
Define the purpose of the book, intended readership, subject area, academic or professional need, proposed structure, and the contribution the book will make.
Prepare a book proposal
Provide information about the proposed title, aims, scope, readership, contents, competing publications, author or editor expertise, and anticipated manuscript.
Editorial assessment
The proposal may be assessed for its subject relevance, quality, originality, audience, positioning, feasibility, and suitability for the ANVA Books publishing programme.
Expert evaluation
Where appropriate, proposals or manuscript materials may be evaluated by relevant specialists to help assess their scholarly, educational, technical, or professional contribution.
Publishing agreement
If a project is approved for publication, the applicable publishing terms, responsibilities, manuscript requirements, rights, and planned publication arrangements are established.
Manuscript development
Authors or editors prepare the complete manuscript in accordance with the agreed scope, structure, schedule, and manuscript preparation requirements.
Production
Following acceptance of the final manuscript, the project can proceed through applicable editorial and production stages such as copy preparation, typesetting, proofing, metadata preparation, and publication setup.
Publication
Once the publication process is completed, the book is prepared for release in the formats and channels applicable to the individual publishing project.

Your proposal is the starting point for evaluating a potential ANVA Books publication.
A proposal should clearly explain what you intend to publish, why the book is needed, who will read it, and how it contributes to its subject.
